Tuna Burgers

This dish is borrowed from a very old kids cook book I have, that my step daughter is now discovering. She has made the following dish for the family & loved it, plus it beats having normal burgers.

Serves 3 to 6 People

2 Burgers  = 3 People
6 Burgers  = 6 People

Utensils

6 Small Paper Bags (that can be used in oven)
Knife
Fork
Spoon
Strainer
Bowl
Baking  Tray

Ingredients

6 Hamburger Buns
Butter
185 grams Tin of Tuna
Half Cup Grated Cheese
1 Small Onion
3 Tablespoons Mayonnaise
Salt and Pepper

Method

Turn oven to moderate ( 180 Celsius or 350 Fahrenheit), grate cheese, chop onion, cut buns in half, buttering each half. Drain the tuna well, flake it with a fork. Put tuna in bowl, stir in cheese, onion and Mayonnaise. Add salt and pepper, divide tuna mixture into six lots. Spread evenly over lower half of each bun. Put top on buns, putting each burger into a paper bag. Put onto baking tray heat in oven for 15 minutes to 20 minutes.

Enjoy, if you & your kids make these please come back and let me know what you think of them.

This recipe was taken from the book Junior Cook Book 2 by Mary Pat Fergus

Easy Pie - Dessert or Cake

This dish has been around in a number of versions a friend of mine calls her No Stuff Up Pie, I call it Easy Pie, even Lady Flo Bjelke-Petersen put in her recipe book awhile back & called it Impossible Pie but what ever it's called it's easy to make & tastes wonderful.

You can have this dish by itself with some coffee or tea or even as a dessert with some Ice Cream.

Easy Pie

Utensils

Blender
Pie Dish (about 25 cm to 30 cm)
Measuring Cups

Ingredients

1 Cup Desiccated Coconut
1 Cup Sugar
2 Cups Milk
Half Cup Plain Flour
Half Cup Butter
2 Teaspoons Vanilla
4 Eggs

Method

Turn the oven to moderate (180 Celsius to 200 Celsius), grease the pie dish then blend all the ingredients in the blender. Once that is done pour mixture into the greased pie dish, place in the oven for an hour or until centre is firm.

You will find the coconut forms a nice topping, the flour forms the base and the eggs become a egg custard filling.

If you make it please pop back and post what it was like, I will update this blog dish soon with a picture of mine when I make it again which will be soon.

I've also learnt to make two pies at once as one is never ever enough for this family.

Intro

With this blog every week I'm aiming with this blog to share some of my special dishes I love cooking/baking/making myself or ones other people cook/bake/make themselves that I love eating (yes I will be asking their permission before posting it on here if it's not one of mine or doesn't belong to our family.

If there are dishes you would like to share with other readers on here then please let me know. For now on to my first dish I'm going to share.
